Twyfelfontein - Damaraland - Namibia

Twyfelfontein means 'Doubtful Fountain'. During colonial time, the farmer who named this water source was not sure if the fountain would flow permanently. In fact, the water source is still flowing even though the rate of flow is not very high.

With a water source in the surroundings, the San people have probably lived in the region for a long time. These days, there is a great quantity of rock engravings and also a few rock paintings. There are more than 2500 rock engravings that have been discovered in the region.

The site is now part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
